All Gage Garmo wanted was to meet his idol, Eminem. Garmo, 17, suffered from a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer, and his health was spiraling downward. His friends rallied around him, opening a GoFundMe account for the family – and starting a social media campaign to raise awareness of Garmo's wish. It worked. Garmo's story caught the attention of Michigan-based charity The Rainbow Connection, an organization that grants wishes to terminally ill kids. With the charity's help, Garmo's wish was granted on Sunday evening – Eminem showed up at his house in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Garmo sat with Eminem in the family's living room for about an hour, chatting quietly about hip-hop and football as his mom, dad and younger sister looked on. According to onlookers, Garmo lit up when the 42-year-old rapper arrived at the house. "Gage sat up with a grin of his face," Rainbow Connection's Ingrid Todt told the Detroit Free Press. "His family hadn't seen their son do that in such a long time." A day after receiving his wish, Garmo, who would have turned 18 on Friday, died of the disease. His family and friends held a candlelight vigil at Rochester High School's football field. Still, Eminem's visit will remain in the memories of everyone who watched the rapper and the teen together. "It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen," says Todt. "The stars aligned, and Gage's wish came true."
